Miracle Week!
Hey Y'all
I hope things are going pretty well for y'all this past week. This week has definitely been amazing here.
To start off, on Tuesday we were able to have an awesome lesson with our friend Stephen. We brought our ward mission leader Brother Harrington and tried again to help him answer his concerns about the Restoration. He thinks super deeply about everything in his life and so it is bringing a lot of anxiety. At the end Elder Leavitt was able to discern his need and invited him to pray to feel the Holy spirit and then sit and block out any thoughts except that and promised him that if he did that he would feel the spirit. As we left Brother Harrington said that that was the most powerful lesson he had ever been to since joining the church and he comes to a lot of lessons. I am glad that the Lord was willing to work through our imperfect vessels to bless him and Stephen in that way.
Then the next day we went and visited Sister Gilbart. We were able to share with her the new Ward Mission Plan and challenge her to share the video "Ask of God" with one of her co-workers. She was super excited to try and show that to one of her friends. Brother Harrington loved the idea and has been encouraging us to do the same whenever we visit a less-active member now. That was pretty cool.
Then on Thursday we went with Brother Callahan to try and visit Stephen again. Brother Callahan is the person who introduced him to the church and was a scholar. Unfortunately Stephen got stuck in traffic so we weren't able to visit with him. That allowed us to go and visit a member who needed a blessing which we would not have been able to give otherwise. It is amazing to see how the Lord works and directs our paths sometimes.
On Friday we were also able to visit our friend Sandy. She has been coming consistently to church for the past few months and so we went over and had a good visit with her. She asked us what it takes to become a member of the church and so we set her on date for February 22nd. I am excited for her. She is so gung-ho about this. She wants a calling and to give a talk in Church. That was an amazing experience.
Later that night we were able to go and visit Stephen again. He did pray as we asked and felt super peaceful and calm as he prayed, but fell asleep and so he felt that it wasn't his answer. We tried to show him that it was, but he still didn't see that. He still has that desire though and so I am excited to keep helping him. We also had a chance earlier that day to go and make a giant burn pile in the back of someone's yard. We had a member cut down some big limbs into smaller pieces and then we piled it up. It looked super sick.
Then on Sunday we had a pretty cool miracle. We had a less-active member ask us to come over and teach him the discussions along with his fiance and her 2 kids. They said they would come to church and so we are waiting to meet them. After the sacrament we had not seen them and so I wasn't expecting to see them. Then about 10 minutes before sacrament meeting they walk in. It was awesome. They came to Sunday school as well and loved it. Then later that night we were able to teach them the restoration and they seem super open to becoming members of the church. I am excited to keep working with them. We are going back on Wednesday so it should be awesome.
Well, that is about it for this week. I hope that y'all enjoyed the Super Bowl yesterday. I heard the chiefs won which I am glad for. Until next time, good luck and God bless!
Elder Beard
